Compactum glabrum; rami ad 6 cm. longi, 1 cm. diam., inferne reliquis induratis onusti, dense 6-foliati cum bracteis foliis simillimis; folia fere erecta vel inferiora patenti-erecta, subcylindrica obtusa exapiculata, supra plana, carina superne sat conspicua, cum marginibus aspero-ciliata, punctis apicem versus crebris prominentibus, ad 7 cm. longa, medio 1.1 cm., apice 0.9-1 cm., diam.; pedunculi ad 2.5 cm. longi, bracteis breviores; receptaculum 5 mm. longum, ad 1.5 cm. diam.; sepala 5, inaequilonga, 0.9-1.4 cm. longa, exteriora carinata, carina eccentrica, membranis 3 latis; petala 2-3-seriata acuminata, inferne haud attenuata, pallida, superne dilute rosea, ad 1.4 cm. longa, ad 1 mm. lata; staminodia longe acuminata, apicem versus aurea, stamina superantia; stamina copiosa multi-seriata, ad 9 mm. longa, antheris parvis cum polline aureis; discus inconspicuus, pallide viridis; ovarium supra fere album, lobis inconspicuis, per 2 mm. gradatim elevatum; stigmata 8-10, e basi anguste subulata setaceo-acuminata, viridia, 3 mm. longa; capsula supra receptaculum per 4 mm. elevata, lobis ca. 1 mm. altis 1.2 cm., expansa 2.6 cm., diam., carinis erectis, ad 2 mm. altis distantibus, fere parallelis, marginibus laceratis, alis longe setaceoque acuminatis, alis loculi valde profundeque compressis, marginibus ore erectis, tuberculo parvo; semina saturate brunnea minute tessellata, sine micropylo fere orbicularia, 1.5 mm. diam.

Leaves succulent, upright, subterete, arched-ascending, glaucous to bright green, apex blunt, rough, tinged red, borne flat on ground. Flowers solitary, pale yellow to cream-coloured. Flowering time spring. Capsules hard, woody, 6-10-locular, covering membranes steeply angled into each valve, closing bodies small, valve wings narrow, expanding keels parallel, diverging only at apex.
