Characteristics

Succulent shrub, compact when young, later in dense clumps and creeping, up to 250 mm diam., old leaves persisting between new growth. Leaves terete, glaucous, older leaves blackish green, 80-100 x up to 10 mm, up to 10 mm thick. Flowers solitary, with white to straw-coloured petals, filamentous staminodes and stamens very numerous. Fruit 5-locular, valve wings broad, closing bodies medium-sized.
