Characteristics

Corolla glabrous, pale-blue; tube c. 2 mm. long, cylindric-infundibuliform; lobes 1.4–2.0 x 1.4–2.2 mm., broadly ovate to widely transversely elliptic, rounded at apex, erect-spreading; fornices subquadrate, papillose, notched at apex.

Cauline leaves fewer, mid cauline c. 4.0 x 0.8 cm., lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, acute at apex, acute or subacute at base, sessile, progressively changing into bracts to the apex; lateral nerves inconspicuous.
Calyx 2 mm. long, campanulate, shortly hispid outside, divided to near base; lobes c. 1.5 mm. long, ovate-lanceolate, acute to obtuse, somewhat thick and a little bent inwards.
Basal leaves many in a dense rosette, up to 19.5 x 2.5 cm., narrowly lanceolate, rough to hispid on both surfaces, acute at apex and with base narrowed into a ± long petiole.
Stamens inserted about the middle of the corolla tube; anthers c. 0.6 mm. long, elliptic; filaments c. 0.4 mm. long.
Fruit up to 10 mm. in diam.; nutlets c. 5 x 5 mm. (without glochids), ± orbicular, covered all over with glochids.
Pedicels 4.0–6.0 mm. long, swollen to the receptacle, rough-hispid, elongating up to 15 mm. and recurved in fruit.
An erect rhizomatous perennial herb, much branched to the apex; stem and branches shortly hispid.
Cymes few-flowered, arranged in an ample lax panicle.
Style c. 0.6 mm. long, glabrous; stigma subcapitate.
