Characteristics

Perennial geophyte, 0.2-0.6 m high. Leaves green or dry at flowering, strap-shaped, 7-15 mm wide, channelled, somewhat fleshy. Flowers 4-10, pendulous; perianth tubular, slightly widened towards throat, 30-70 mm long, red with orange inside, firm; stamens exserted; style longer than perianth; stigma 3-branched. Flowering time Oct.-Feb., occasionally in winter after fire.
