Characteristics

Bulb ovate, up to 4 cm in diam. Leaves 3, contemporary with the flowers, linear, 15-25 cm long, 5-8 mm broad, glaucous, flattish toward the apex, channeled below. Peduncle hardly as long as the leaves, slender, glaucous. Spathe-valves 2, lanceolate, about 2.5 cm long. Pedicels up to 2.5 cm long. Flowers up to about 10 in an umbel; perianth more or less 5 cm long, bright red with whitish lines extending along the perianth from the ovary; tube curved at the base, slender in the lower half, dilated above to a throat nearly 1 cm wide; lobes oblong-obtuse, approximately 1.25 cm long. Stamens indistinctly biseriate, filaments short. Styles shortly trifid.
