Characteristics

Bulb globose-ovoid, 3 cm long, 2.5 cm diam. Leaves produced after the flowers, linear, up to about 15 cm long, 2 mm broad. Peduncle about 11 cm long, curved. Spathe-valves 2, lanceolate, attenuate, 3.3 cm long. Flower 1, rarely 2, sessile, bright red with a golden glitter; perianth about 8.5 cm long; tube 4.3 cm long, 4 mm in diam. at the base, cylindric, gradually expanded above to 1.1 cm diam. at the throat; lobes obovate-oblong, acute, 4.3 cm long, 1.9 cm broad. Stamens uniseriate; filaments 3-3.5 cm long. Capsule (immature) cylindric, 1.5 cm long, 0.7 cm in diam.; the seeds dark brown, 7 mm long.
