Bulb 2–5 cm. in diameter.. Leaves linear to lanceolate, 10–40 cm. long, 0.4–2.4 cm. broad.. Scape 6–40 cm. long.. Flowers 1(–3).. Pedicels 0.3–4.5 cm.. Corolla pink to scarlet or orange, often tinged with green in lower part, consisting of a narrow tube, a more open oblong-campanulate to infundibuliform tube and free segments, altogether 3.5–12.5 cm. long; segments 0.5–2.3 cm. broad, acute to obtuse, often also apiculate.. Filaments equal or unequal, coloured like the perianth, inserted at the same or different levels in the wider part of the perianth-tube; anthers 3–6 mm. long after dehiscence, at one or two levels.. Seeds up to ± 1 cm. long.
Perennial geophyte, 0.3-0.4 m high. Leaves green at flowering, linear-lanceolate, 10-20 mm wide, soft, pale green, keeled. Flowers 1 or 2(-4), laxly spreading; perianth widely funnel-shaped, 75-105 mm long, scarlet or rarely salmon-pink, throat paler with 6 dark lines; style pressed against lower segment; stigma 3-branched. Flowering time Jan.-Mar.
Bulbous geophyte to 50 cm. Leaves 1-4, dry or green at flowering, linear-lanceolate. Flowers 1-3(-4), spreading, narrowly to widely funnel-shaped, scarlet or rarely salmon-pink, with darker red stripes leading into throat, stamens exserted, style declinate, 3-branched.
