Bulb ovoid, up to 3.75 cm diam. Leaves 2, absent or contemporary with the flowers, linear, 30-45 cm long, 6-9 mm broad, green. Peduncle about equal in length to the leaves, 6-8 cm in diam. Spathe-valves 2, lanceolate, 7.5-9 cm long, green. Pedicels shorter than the spathe-valves. Flowers 10-15 in an umbel, occasionally less, nodding; perianth 3.75-5 cm long; tube curved, dilated gradually from the base to a throat 8-9 mm in diam.; lobe oblong, 6-9 mm long, connivent. Stamens biseriate; filaments short, not exserted. Style exserted; stigma tricuspidate. Flowering time: August to November, occasionally as late as March. Perianth tube red, lobes green.
