Characteristics

Leafless terrestrial orchids with branching rhizomes. Flower stems covered with glandular hairs and stem-embracing, inflated stem bracts. Inflorescence racemose, short, few-flowered. Flowers resupinate, widely spaced. Sepals larger than petals. Labellum unlobed, fused to sides of column for a short distance. Callus of small groups of finger-like glands in the labellum base. Anther with two soft pollinia attached directly to a round viscidium.
