Trees. Leaves alternate, simple, conspicuously lobed on juveniles and occasionally on mature plants. Conflorescence raceme-like (but almost spicate), axillary, appearing almost terminal, sometimes paniculately branched. Flowers actinomorphic, bisexual, paired, almost sessile; common peduncle very short; common bract developed; floral bracts absent. Tepals valvate, coiled and reflexed at anthesis, dilated at apex, cream, glabrous throughout. Stamens 4; anthers 2-locular, basifixed, sessile, or filaments very short, dehiscing by longitudinal slits. Hypogynous glands 4, patelliform.
