Pseudobulbs widely spaced on creeping rhizome, narrowly cylindrical, tapered to each end, 100–600 × 5–10 mm, yellowish, furrowed. Leaves 8–20 per pseudobulb, 40–100 × 8–12 mm, thin-textured but tough, dark green, apex notched. Racemes 20–50 mm long, 2–5-flowered. Flowers somewhat drooping, 10–15 × 15–20 mm, bright yellow, waxy, fragrant. Sepals and petals projecting forwards so that flowers remain cupped. Dorsal sepal 7–9 × 5–6 mm. Lateral sepals 7–9 × 6–7 mm. Petals 6–8 × 5 mm. Labellum c. 9 × 6 mm, with brown markings; lateral lobes incurved; midlobe with 2 flared lobes and 2 ridges.
Widespread and common; usually found growing on trees in rainforest, but it also extends to humid ridges and slopes in open forest, often on sheoaks; it also occurs on shrubs and stunted trees with flaky bark, including species of Callistemon and Leptospermum.
