Pseudobulbs onion-like, 20–50 × 20–30 mm, sometimes purplish. Leaves 2–4, terminal, terete, 70–120 × 5 mm, fleshy, grooved, green to purplish. Racemes 80–200 mm long, 2–12-flowered. Flowers 20–25 × 18–25 mm, usually pink with dark brown and purple markings, sometimes white centrally. Dorsal sepal 4–5 × 3 mm, pointing forwards over labellum. Lateral sepals triangular, 4–5 × 3 mm, spreading. Petals erect, 15–20 × 3 mm, striped, tips twisted. Labellum c. 14 × 8 mm, yellow; lateral lobes erect, entire; midlobe pointed, with 3 ridges extending to base of midlobe.
Locally common; found growing on trees, usually broad-leaved paperbark, in stunted woodland on slopes and areas adjacent to low-lying sites that are subject to periodic inundation. Often grows in bright light, even full sun.
