Twiggy shrub, 0.6-0.9(-1.5) m high, leafless at flowering. Radical leaves simple or trifoliolate (young plants). Cauline leaves simple; lamina absent (or caducous) or linear to filiform, up to 30 mm long; petioles sheathing, persistent. Flowers: umbels in diffuse panicles; umbel rays 4-11, 5-35 mm long. Involucre of 4-6 caducous, narrowly ovate, whitish margined bracts. Flowers yellow. Calyx obsolete. Flowering time Oct.-May. Fruit ovoid, sparingly villous or muricate.

Flowers: involucre a few bracts or absent; greenish yellow or yellowish white; Nov.-Apr. Fruit elliptic, slightly laterally compressed, villous.
