Characteristics

Prostrate, multi-stemmed perennial, up to 0.05 m tall; rootstock woody. Stems slender, 140-500 mm long, less than 2 mm in diameter, glabrous, subterete, striate; internodes 15-30 (40) mm long. Leaves cauline, simple, 6-12 mm x 1-2 mm; blade linear, largely rudimentary, greatly reduced along stem towards apex, glabrous, glaucous, subterete; petioles sheathing, persistent. Inflorescence with a terminal primary umbel and 0 to 12 smaller lateral umbels; umbels compound; primary umbel with 8 to 12 rays, semi-hemispherical; involucre present, bracts lanceolate, apex acuminate; rays 10 to 18 mm long, sub-equal; involucel bracts narrowly ovate to lanceolate, apex acute to acuminate, free or prominently connate; raylets 1-3 mm long. Flowers bisexual, pentamerous; sepals minute teeth; petals yellow, 0.5-1.2 mm x 0.5-1 mm, broadly elliptic to broadly ovate, tips inflexed; ovary inferior, with warty finger-like projections, stylopodium shortly conical; styles reflexed up to the base of the stylopodium in mature fruits. Fruits 2.8-3.3 mm x 1.8-2.3 mm, isodiametric, elliptic, with warty finger-like projections; mericarps homomorphic, one mericarp usually slightly smaller, often aborted, 5-ribbed; commissural vittae 2; vallecular vittae 3; commissure narrow. Flowering time is from late summer to late autumn (February to May).
