Characteristics

Glabrous herb, 0.08-0.25 m high. Leaves of flowering shoots erect, 4-120 mm long; sheath length 1.5x leaf width. Inflorescences with peduncles up to 250 mm high, mostly unbranched, 3-flowered. Calyx with 2 pairs of bracts, half as long as calyx. Sepals united, cylindrical, 24-28 mm long. Petals pink or purple; lamina 6-13 mm long, broadly elliptic to obovate, spreading, margins finely dentate, claw included. Flowering time Dec.-Apr. Fruit a capsule, equaling calyx length.
