Rosulate annual, up to 130 mm diam. Leaves ovate to elliptic, rounded to acute, entire or irregularly lobed. Flowers with lanceolate-acute calyx lobes, corolla red with yellow spur openings, limb 9-12.5 mm long, spurs projecting back and downward, divergent, 11-13 mm long, stamens projecting forwards, filaments ± straight, densely glandular pubescent. Capsule broadly ovoid, 5-7.5 mm long.
