Characteristics

An annual herb, mostly glabrous, sub-glaucescent; stem ascending or decumbent, a few inches long; lower leaves rosulate or crowded, oblanceolate or obovate, rounded or somewhat pointed at the apex, wedge-shaped at the base, pinnatifid or dentate, 0.375-0.625 in. long, 0.167-0.334 in. broad, lobes or teeth rounded or somewhat pointed; petioles 0.250-0.5 in. long; upper leaves mostly opposite, with internodes about 25 mm [as '1 in.'] long; peduncles axillary or subradical, 1.25-2.25 in. long, suberect or ascending; calyx-segments lanceolate, subacute, green, shortly ciliolate with whitish hairs along the whitish margin, 0.083-0.167 in. long; corolla 0.34-0.5 in. broad, with two very short and broad pouches or pockets, not spurred; stamens 4, all bearing anthers; filaments hairy about the middle and somewhat dilated; anthers glabrous; young fruit ovoid-oblong, exceeding the persistent calyx-segments.
