Suffruticose perennial herb or shrub, 45-100 cm tall; young stems slender, 6-angular, ± prominently ridged, densely and finely white retrorse-pubescent; older woody stems subangular, glabrescent. Leaves linear-lanceolate or narrowly oblong, 2-7 x 0.2-0.9 cm, base cuneate or attenuate, apex acute, surfaces at first finely white antrorse-puberulous, sparse at maturity; lateral veins 3-4 pairs, inconspicuous; petiole 0-4.5 mm long. Inflorescence axillary, one umbel of (1)2(3) cymules per axil; umbel peduncle 0.5-3.5(7.5) mm long; main axis bracts linear-lanceolate or narrowly oblanceolate, 2-9.5 x 0.5-1.5 mm; cymules shortly pedunculate or one of a pair sessile, longest cymule peduncle in each umbel 0.5-4.5 mm long, indumentum as young stem; cymule bracts green or dark brown, pairs unequal, ratio 1.1-1.6:1, larger bract subulate, 4.5-10 x 1.2-1.6 mm, apex acute, external surface pale spreading-pubescent, also puberulent with mixed eglandular and capitate-glandular hairs, only midrib prominent, margin sometimes narrowly pale-hyaline; bracteoles linear-lanceolate, 4.5-6.5 mm long. Calyx lobes 2.3-3.3 mm long, ciliate, surface glandular-puberulent, sometimes a few long eglandular hairs towards apex. Corolla (13.5) 18.5-24 mm long, pale purple or pale lilac to white, with dark purple guidelines, shortly eglandular and glandular-pubescent externally; tube (6)8.5-11 mm long; lip held in upper position oblong, (7)10-14 x 2-3.5 mm, palate puberulous towards mouth; lip held in lower position ovate or elliptic, (7.5)10-13 x (2.5)4.5-5 mm. Staminal filaments c.7.5 mm long, largely glabrous; anther thecae 1-1.2 mm long, superposed. Style sparsely strigulose towards base. Capsule 10-10.5 mm long, shortly pubescent with mixed eglandular and glandular hairs; placental base inelastic. Seeds c.2.2 mm in diameter, tuberculate, tubercles minutely hooked.

Perennial herb, up to 0.8 m high. Leaves lanceolate, 3.3-6.0 mm broad. Tertiary bracts 5.3-9.2 x 1.0-1.2 mm, length to breadth ratio greater than 7:1, longer than calyx lobes. Corolla longer than 14 mm. Mature stems densely pubescent between ridges. Flowers pale mauve with purple honey guides.
