Characteristics

Perennial herb, up to 0.1 m high; roots fleshy and fusiform. Stems procumbent or creeping up to 1 m long. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate; blade broadly ovate or rotundate, apex rounded, margins shallowly, indistinctly crenate, sometimes ± entire, 5-7-nerved. Flowers: axillary; spur usually short and wide, 2.0-2.5 mm long; calyx lobes obtuse, dorsal lobe ± obovate; corolla usually white with yellow palate; Jul.-Feb., mostly Dec., Jan.

Differs from D. reptans as follows: stems prostrate or creeping, up to 1 m long, few small plants erect, up to 100 mm high; roots fleshy and fusiform. Leaves: margins shallowly and indistinctly crenate, sometimes ± entire; petioles often shorter with shorter hairs. Calyx: lobes obtuse, upper one ± obovate. Corolla usually white with yellow palate. Spur usually short and wide, 2.0-2.5 mm long. Flowering time July-Feb., mostly Jan.
