Phyllaries: outer ± lanceolate, ± herbaceous, sericeous to strigillose, inner ultimately obovate to ± orbiculate, usually ± cucullate, scarious to membranous, usually glandular-pubescent, each ± investing a cypsela. Paleae 1.8–2+ mm. Functionally staminate florets: corollas 2.5–3 mm. Cypselae 3–8+ mm. 2n = 36.
