Characteristics

Frutex vel suffrutex erectus usque 1 m altus corymbose ramosus; rami juniores subherbacei asperihirti(-pubescentes), pilis hrevissimis glanduliferis, vel subglabri striati glauco-virides, vetustiores lignosi usque 0.5 cm crassi cortice fusco obtecti; internodia 0.3-1(-2 ) cm longa. Folia alterna rigide membranacea glanduloso-aspera-hirta(-pubescentia) glabrescentia ambitu obovata-oblonga-oblanceolata basin versus in petiolum + conspicuum angustata petiolo incluso (2-)3-7 cm longa (0.5-)1-4 cm lata obtusa vel acuta mucronate margine grosse dentate-pinnatilobata-pinnatifida-pinnatipartita, laciniis usque 1 cm altis, lobis vel laciniis mucronatis saepe dentatis; nervus medius subtus elevatus, nervi lateralis vix conspicui. Capitula magna in apicibus ramorum solitaria pedunculata; pedunculi 2-6 cm longi glanduloso-asperi-hirti nudi. Involucri squamae c. 20 subuniseriatae fere aequilongae lineari-acuminatae 12-15 mm longae 1-2 mm latae dorso asperulae (vel puberulae) margine albido-scariosae + ciliatae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae flavae vel aurantiacae vel subtus partim rubore tinctae involucrum plus duplo superantes; staminodia 4 adsunt; flores disci numerosissimi flavi involucro paullo (2-5 mm) breviores. Achaenia radii (vix matura) laevia triangularia angulo interiore minute alata, angulis exterioribus obsolete alata; achaenia disci lateribus applanata obcordata margine incrassate apice leviter emarginata.
