Characteristics

Herba perennis vel suffrutex; caules erecti vel adscendentes 1-2 dm alti basi lignescentes simplices vel parum ramosi; caules ramique juniores leviter angulati virides glanduloso-hirti + glabrescentes basi conferte foliati, vetustiores robusti cortice griseo-fusco obtecti. Folia alterna sessilia linearia basi subsemiamplexicaulia 2-7 cm longa 1-2 mm lata margine integerrima vel remote dentata vel pinnatifida. laciniis linearibus usque 4 mm longis, + dense glanduloso-hirta; folia summa plerumque integerrima; nervus medius modo conspicuus subtus elevatus. Capitula in apicibus caulis et ramorum solitaria; pedunculi nudi 2-5(-8) cm longi erecti vel in fructificatione cernui. Involucrum campanulatum 7-10 mm altum; squamae 10-13 fere aecpiilongae subuniseriatae lanceolatae vel lineari-lanceolatae acuminatae per medium dorsum virides glanduloso-puberulae margine albido-scariosae ciliolatae. Flores radii involucri squamas numero aequantes; ligulae supra albae subtus cupreae vel partim violascentes involucrum 2-3-plo superantes. Flores disci involucro 2-3 mm breviores; corollae superne violaceae-purpureae. Achaenia dura glabra c. 3 mm longa anguste triangulari-obovoidea, angulis crenato-tuberculatis, lateribus tuberculatis.
