(PCNA) Origin: in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, in 1902, probably a budsport of Ikura Gosho. Introduced as PI 72662 into Plant Introduction Gardens, Chico, Calif. Most widely planted in Japan and California. Fruit oblate, round when well-grown, with glossy orange-red skin. Crop sets parthenocarpically but it improves when seeded.
