Cultivation

(PVA) An old cultivar that originated in Japan in ancient times. It is the most popular PVA type in Japan and California. Very large fruit (250 g), oblong-conical, attractive, deep orangered when ripe, often develops black splotches. Parthenocarpic fruit drops prematurely; sets better when seeded. Small region about seed turns brown-black. Eaten fresh, dried, or made into cookies and bread. Tree is vigorous and upright. Pistillate constant. Origin: Tree: Fruit:
