Origin: in Urbana, Ill., by J.C. McDaniel, Illinois Agr. Expt. Sta. Incompletely sex-reversed bud mutation of Early Golden; discovered in 1952. Introd. in 1953. This variety is considered potentially valuable in breeding for fruit quality in the dioecious American persimmon species. While original branch has remained partially male through 1968, and other sex-reversed branchlets have appeared on the tree, all bud propagated trees reverted to typical Early Golden. (Similar transiently male branchlets have been seen in the Killen variety and in other Early Golden trees). Tree: Fruit:
