Perennial climber or trailer to 3 m.; stems herbaceous, glabrous, obscurely mottled with darker green or ± concolorous, becoming white-punctate on the ridges when older.. Leaf-blade broadly ovate-cordate in outline, membranous, punctate, 35–110 mm. long, 38–135 mm. broad, palmately 3–7-lobed; lobes elliptic, usually distinctly narrowed below, entire or sinuate with small apiculate teeth and often rounded-lobulate or lobulate-dentate; petiole glabrous or with forward-pointing aculeate hairs, 17–56 mm. long.. Male flowers 1–8 in sessile or shortly pedunculate clusters intermixed with 0–1 ♀ flowers; pedicels 14–48 mm. long; receptacle-tube 2.5–4 mm. long; lobes triangular-subulate to lanceolate, spreading, 0.5–2 mm. long; corolla white or pale cream with green veins, with lobes 5–11 mm. long, 2.7–5 mm. broad, united below..
