Characteristics

Spreading shrub to 0.7 m high. Leaves with slender petiole 3–7 mm long; lamina flat, broadly ovate or broadly elliptic to circular, 20–35 mm long, 16–25 mm wide, rounded at apex and base, sparsely to moderately pubescent adaxially with only stipitate stellate hairs, moderately soft-pubescent to velvety abaxially. Flowerheads c. 2 cm diam.; outer bracts broadly ovate, c. 10 mm long, obtuse, with a fawn indumentum; inner bracts ovate to broadly ovate, equal to or shortly exceeding outer ones, grey to rusty stellate-tomentose; innermost bracts red, sparsely pubescent. Petals slightly shorter than inner bracts, pale green, woolly-ciliate otherwise almost glabrous. Stamens: filaments 15–20 mm long, pale red, long stellate-pilose towards base; anthers c. 1.5 mm long, pink.
