Characteristics

Plant leafless. Basal bracts overlapping, blunt. Flower stem 400–700 mm tall, green to reddish, 15–35-flowered. Ovaries straight, reddish, smooth, unspotted. Flowers 15–20 mm across, white with large pink to red spots and blotches. Perianth segments remaining incurved to give flowers a bell-shaped appearance. Dorsal sepal 12–14 × 3–5 mm. Lateral sepals 12–14 × 4–5.5 mm, divergent but incurved. Petals 12–14 × 4–5 mm. Labellum 10–12 × 4–6 mm, white with large pink blotches; lateral lobes 3–4.5 × 0.7 mm, sparsely hairy on inside base; midlobe 6–7 × 4–5 mm, a broad band of mauve hairs over much of surface. Callus ridges c. 3 × 0.4 mm, pubescent, parallel. Column c. 5 × 2 mm, white. Capsules yellowish green.
