Characteristics

Plants slender, 450-550 mm tall; basal leaves hysteranthous, linear, somewhat spiralling towards the apex, up to 350 mm long, often persisting as a fibrous sheath, cauline leaves sheathing, scattered on the stem, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences lax, 6-9 (-12)-flowered; bracts scarious, shorter than the ovaries. Flowers mauve-purple with blue iridescence or pink. Median sepal galeate, apiculate, 8-11 mm tall, galea slightly laterally flattened, 3-4 mm wide x 4-6 mm deep; spur slender, terete, horizontal, at length decurved, 11-15 mm long; lateral sepals patent, oblong, truncate, 9-11 x 3-6 mm, apiculi 2-3 mm long. Petals erect next to the rostellum, narrowly oblong, 4-5 mm tall, apex minutely tri-dentate, basal anticous lobe large, oblate, 2-2.5 mm in diameter. Lip patent, oblanceolate, truncate, 6-8 mm long. Anther horizontal; stigma flat, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes square, central lobe obtuse.
