Characteristics

Plants slender or robust, 50-300 mm tall; leaves linear-lanceolate, the same length up the scape, usually 50 mm long, clustered at the stem base, lax in upper part, grading into the floral bracts, very rarely some basal leaves petiolate, narrowly elliptic. Inflorescences corymbose, up to 20-flowered; bracts shorter than the ovaries. Flowers not resupinate, median sepal white, lateral sepals white on one side, red on the other, black apically, petals and lip more or less maroon and speckled. Median sepal reflexed, acute, 10-15 mm long, galea laterally flattened, c. 3 mm wide x 3 mm deep, ecalcarate; lateral sepals spreading upwards, narrowly ovate, oblique, apical lh usually conduplicate, 10-17 mm long. Petals flanking the anther, narrowly oblong, suboblique, apex cucullate and curved over the anther, 7-10 mm long. Lip patent, varying from linear to narrowly diamond-shaped, apex curved upwards. Anther horizontal; stigma deltate, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes erect, canaliculate, central lobe smaller, fleshy.
