Characteristics

Plants 250-500 mm tall; radical leaves 4-7, sclerenchymatous, often reaching the inflorescence base but never overtopping the flowers, cauline leaves completely sheathing, dry, lanceolate, 20-40 mm long. Inflorescences lax, 2-6-flowered. Flowers white to very pale blue, veins and lip more or less blue, spur often green. Median sepal angled forwards, galeate, ovate, acuminate, 15-25 mm tall x 13-18 mm wide x 8-12 mm deep; spur conical, not clearly distinct from the galea, straight or rarely upcurved, usually obtuse to shallowly bifid, 1-5 mm long; lateral sepals patent, narrowly oblong, acute, suboblique, 15-25 mm long. Petals with basal anticous lobe oblong, c. 2 mm in diameter, flanking the stigma, limb linear, 5-6 mm long, apex obdeltate, incised to bifid, 3-4 x c. 3 mm. Lip soon decurved, ovate, deeply lacerate, c. 15 mm long. Anther 3 mm long; stigma unequally tripulvinate; rostellum with 3 almost awn-shaped lobes.
