Characteristics

Plants slender, erect, 300-600 mm tall, subterranean stolons frequently produced; radical leaves 6-10, narrowly elliptic, 50-100 mm long, cauline leaves distant, completely sheathing, 15-30 mm long. Inflorescences subdense, 8-20-flowered; bracts as long as or slightly longer than the ovaries. Flowers bright red. Median sepal galeate, 10-15 x 8-10 x 6-8 mm deep; spur conical, obtuse, c. 4 mm long; lateral sepals patent, apex often reflexed, elliptic, obtuse to rounded, 18-28 mm long. Petals included in the galea, reflexed flanking the anther and apices curved over it, narrowly oblong-trapezoid, fused to the rostellum, 6-7 x 1-2 mm. Lip narrowly rhomboid, patent, 6-7 x 1-2 mm. Anther horizontal; stigma sessile, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes erect, shalªlowly canaliculate, central lobe a small fold beªtween them.
