Characteristics

Plants erect, 100-400 mm tall; leaves 4-12, cauline, narrowly lanceolate, apiculate, up to 100 mm long, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences lax, few-flowered; bracts shorter than and enclosing the ovaries. Flowers white, petals closely barred maroon. Median sepal erect, acute, shallowly galeate, 6-8 mm long, galea c. 2 mm deep; spur semi-pendent, often somewhat curved downwards, slender, terete or conical, 2-3 mm long; lateral sepals patent, apices usually reflexed, narrowly obovate to elliptic, rounded, 7.5-11 mm long, apiculate. Petals erect next to the rostellum, broadly obovate, retuse, concave, 3.5-5 mm long. Lip patent, linear, 4-5 mm long. Anther horizontal; stigma almost horizontal, sessile, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes erect, hornlike, canaliculate, central lobe reflexed.
