Characteristics

Plants robust, 250-1100 mm tall; sterile shoots rarely produced, basal sheaths 2-4, hyaline, acute, leaves very narrowly elliptic; fertile shoots: cau-line leaves generally 10-20, densely imbricate. Inflorescences dense, very slender, numerous-flowered; bracts narrowly ovate, c. 20 mm long, apex deflexed, brown. Flowers c. 8 mm in diameter, orange, rarely yellow. Median sepal erect, elliptic, galea 6-11 x c. 3.5 x 2.5 mm deep; spur pendent, clavate, dorsoventrally flattened, 5-11 x 2-4 mm; lateral sepals oblong, obtuse, shallowly concave, spreading to the sides with the apex usually curved forwards, 5.5-9 x 2.5-4.5 mm. Petals suboblique, narrowly ovate, curved over the anªther, 4.5-6 x 2-3.5 mm. Lip pendent, lorate, obªtuse, c. 5-7 mm long. Anther erect; stigma adaxial lobe small; rostellum c. 1 mm tall.
