Characteristics

Plants up to 600 mm tall; leaves cauline, lower leaves with free blades, usually clustered basally, lorate to linear, up to 200 mm long, withered at anthesis, upper leaves dry, imbricate, completely sheathing, c. 50 mm long. Inflorescences loose spikes, up to 20-flowered; bracts dry, about as long as the ovaries. Flowers cream or white, with purple markings on the galea and the petals. Meªdian sepal narrowly oblong, basal part galeate, apex obtuse and reflexed, 15-25 mm long; spur terete, acute, 35-45 mm long; lateral sepals narªrowly oblong, reflexed apically, 15-22 mm long, shortly apiculate. Petals lorate, acute, included in the median sepal galea, with a well-developed baªsal anticous lobe with small papillae on the inside. Lip very narrowly oblanceolate, obtuse to rounded, somewhat convex, apex deflexed, 15-20 mm long. Anther semi-pendent, about 3 mm long; stigma horizontal, on a 2 mm long pedicel, stig-matic area purple; lateral rostellum lobes erect, shallowly canaliculate, parallel, central lobe small.
