Characteristics

Plants 200-600 mm tall; leaves cauline, erect, imbricate, conduplicate, linear-lanceolate, up to 250 mm long, not reaching the inflorescence, upper leaves lanceolate, reduced to sheaths, 40-60 mm long, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences corymbose, up to 15-flowered; bracts reaching the flowers. Flowers white, apical V3 of petals and lip maroon, apical margins rich yellow; ovaries twisted through 360°. Median sepal shallowly galeate, 13-18 x c. 10 x c. 5 mm deep; spur obsoªlete; lateral sepals broadly oblong, rounded or obtuse, concave, 15-22 mm long. Petals oblique, a basal lorate section flanking and parallel to the anther, 6-8 mm long, apex curved up behind the latter, square and truncate, c. 3 mm long. Lip patªent, concave, oblong to broadly elliptic, obtuse, c. 10 mm long. Anther horizontal; stigma on a 1 mm long pedicel, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostelªlum lobes erect, canaliculate, central lobe greatly reduced.
