Characteristics

Plants erect, 50-250 mm tall; leaves cauline, imbricate, mostly sheathing, apical c. 10 mm free, ovate, apiculate, sheath usually barred with purple, 10-20 mm long, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences corymbose, 1-4-flowered; bracts slightly longer than and completely enclosing the ovaries. Flowers not resupinate, white with some purplish spots, pseudo-actinomorphic with sepals and lip borne in same plane. Median sepal orbicular, rounded, 9-14 mm long, apical 2/3 flat, reflexed, lower 1/3 deeply galeate; spur parallel to the ovary, slender, acute, 3-5 mm long; lateral sepals patent, flat, broadly oblong, rounded, 8-13 mm long. Petals flanking the stigma and spreadªing outwards, almost square in outline, oblique, very unequally bilobed, middle of inner surface with numerous small papillae, the whole c. 5 mm tall. Lip patent, oblong to broadly obovate, rounded, 8-10 mm long. Anther semi-pendent; stigma on a 2 mm long pedicel, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes facing inwards, central lobe very reduced.
