Characteristics

Plants slender or robust, 50-250 mm tall; basal sheaths usually 2, hyaline; leaves dimorphic: radical leaves numerous, linear, 10-40 mm long, cauline leaves lax to imbricate, sheathing, grading into the radical leaves and floral bracts. Inflorescences subimbricate, 1-5-flowered; bracts as long as and enclosing the ovary. Flowers varying from almost white to bright pink, often galea darker-coloured. Median sepal spathulate, claw 4-6 mm long, blade broadly ovate, concave, reflexed, 6-12 x 6-12 mm; spur obsolete; lateral sepals patent, apex often reflexed, narrowly oblong to oblong, 10-20 mm long, apiculi well-developed. Petals flanking the anther, lorate to oblong, 7-12 mm long, occasionally a basal anticous lobe flanking the rostellum well-developed. Lip pendent, linear, acute, 6-12 mm long. Anther horizontal, flanked by a flange produced from the rostellum; stigma sessile, equally tripulvinate; rostellum with short reflexed stalk, lateral lobes deeply canaliculate.
