Characteristics

Plants slender, 250-500 mm tall; basal leaves hysteranthous, linear, up to 300 mm long, often persisting as a fibrous sheath, cauline leaves sheathing, narrowly lanceolate, scattered on the stem, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences lax, few-flowered; bracts dry, shorter than the ovaries. Flowers white to pink, often with darker markings. Median sepal galeate, acute, 8-20 mm tall, galea laterally flattened, c. 2 mm wide x 3-5 mm deep, somewhat angled forwards; spur slender, terete, horizontal, at length decurved, 6-14 mm long; lateral sepals patent, narrowly oblong to oblong, obtuse to rounded, almost flat, 8-16 mm long, apiculi small. Petals erect next to the rostelªlum, falcate, 2.5-5 mm long, with a relatively large basal anticous lobe (1-2 mm in diameter) flanking the stigma. Lip patent, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, rounded to trunculate, 8-16 mm long. Anther horizontal, c. 1 mm long; stigma equally tripulvinate, flat; rostellum angled backªwards, lateral lobes square.
