Characteristics

Plants 400-600 mm tall; radical leaves 8-13, often hysteranthous, semi-rigid, erect, base to 2 mm wide, cauline leaves completely sheathing, lax, brown, 20-40 mm long. Inflorescences lax, 3-16-flowered. Flowers varying from very pale blue to purplish blue, lip frequently darker than the seªpals. Median sepal erect, ovate to broadly ovate, galea 10-15 mm tall x 8-10 mm deep; spur coniªcal, tapering to a subacute apex, 4-6 mm long; latªeral sepals patent, oblong to narrowly ovate to rarely narrowly oblong, usually rounded, 8-12 mm long. Petals with the basal anticous lobe broadly oblong, rounded or truncate, margins enªtire or shallowly serrulate, 3-4 mm long, limb lorate, 7-10 mm long, apex acute or rarely toothed at rear, curved falcately or geniculately. Lip patªent, narrowly oblong, oblong or broadly elliptic, rarely broadly auriculate basally, margins, crenuªlate to lacerate, rarely entire, 7-12 mm long. Anªther horizontal; stigma with median lobe smaller; rostellum equally 3-lobed.
