Characteristics

Plants 400-600 mm tall; radical leaves 10-20, rigid, usually about half as long as the stem, c. 1 mm wide, cauline leaves completely sheathing, lax, lanceolate, 20-50 mm long. Inflorescences lax, 3-8-flowered. Flowers blue with green lip, often with greenish veins and brownish spur. Median sepal erect, galea ovate, acuminate, 10-20 mm tall x c. 6 mm deep; spur conical, subacute, rarely cylindrical, obtuse or almost absent, 1-6 mm long; lateral sepals patent, lanceolate to narrowly ovate, acute, 10-15 mm long. Petals with the basal anticous lobes oblong, 3-4 mm long, margins entire or crenulate, rarely decurrent with the limb, limb falcate or rarely geniculate, linear, 7-10 mm long, apex acute or narrowly obdeltate, occasionally lacerate. Lip with a linear (10-) 30-100 mm long limb, blade narrowly ovate, deeply lacerate. Anther 3-4 mm long; stigma 1 mm tall; rostellum equally 3-lobed.
