Characteristics

Plants subrobust, usually erect, 200-400 mm tall; basal sheaths usually 1, rarely 2, fibrous; leaves c. 10, imbricate, rigid, erect, conduplicate, linear, generally reaching the inflorescence base, up to 250 mm long, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences semi-lax, 50-150 mm long; bracts dry, as long as or shorter than the pedicellate ovaries. Flowers white or cream, often with red spots at the lateral sepal apices. Median sepal acute, galea (8-) 9-12 x c. 6 x c. 4 mm deep; spur terete, acute, horizontal and decurved at length, 25-40 mm long; lateral sepals oblong, truncate or obtuse, flat, 9-13 mm long, shortly apiculate. Petals inªcluded in the galea, erect, narrowly oblong, c. 5 mm tall, with a basal anticous lobe c. 2 mm in diªameter flanking the stigma. Lip patent, oblanceoªlate, obtuse or rounded, c. 10 mm long. Anther horizontal or semi-pendent; stigma equally tripulªvinate, flat; lateral rostellum lobes square, central lobe reduced.
