Characteristics

Plants 250-500 mm tall; radical leaves c. 10, rigid and erect, up to 1 mm broad, cauline leaves 5-7, completely sheathing, dry, 20-40 mm long. Inflorescences lax, 1-7-flowered; bracts dry. Flowers blue, lip more purplish than sepals, rear lobes of petals yellow or green. Median sepal erect, galeate, ovate, subacuminate, 15-25 mm tall x 10-15 mm deep; spur conical, obtuse, horizontal or slightly curved upwards, 1-4 mm long; lateral sepals patent, oblong, acute, 15-18 mm long. Petals with basal anticous lobe oblong to semi-circular, 3-4 mm in diameter, margin entire or crenulate, limb lorate, 8-10 mm long, falcately curved upwards inside the galea, apex expanded into a 4-5 mm broad fan with crenulate margins. Lip broadly ovate, obtuse with a short claw, 12-18 mm long, margins crisped and curved upwards. Anther horiªzontal; stigma horizontal, subequally tripulvinate; rostellum equally 3-lobed.
