Characteristics

Plants flexuose, 60-200 mm tall; leaves cauline, basal 2-3 with patent, ovate, acute, 25-70 mm long blades, purple below, remainder erect, mostly sheathing, narrowly lanceolate, 20-30 mm long, grading into the large basal leaves and the floral bracts. Inflorescences lax or dense, subco-rymbose, 1-10-flowered; bracts shorter than and enclosing the ovaries. Flowers on a normally horizontally-arching inflorescence, with distinct pedicels 10-30 mm long, almost pure white to rose. Median sepal erect, acute, 8-13 mm tall x c. 4 mm deep; spur obsolete; lateral sepals patent, elliptic-oblong, rounded, 8-13 mm long, apiculate. Petals almost deltate, attached midway, broad part of triangle flanking the stigma, point flanking the anther, apex swollen, c. 5 mm long x 2.5 mm tall. Lip patent, narrowly oblong, rounded, base somewhat widened, 5-7 mm long. Anther semi-pendent; stigma horizontal, shortly pedicellate; lateral rostellum lobes square, central lobe greatly reduced.
