Characteristics

Plants 70-300 mm tall; basal leaves 5-10, green, semi-erect, lorate to narrowly elliptic, up to 90 mm long, cauline leaves reduced to dry imbricate sheaths, 15-25 mm long. Inflorescences lax to dense, few-to many-flowered; bracts dry, as long as or slightly shorter than the ovaries. Flowers white to mauve, petals frequently darker than the sepals. Median sepal very shallowly galeate, apiculate to rarely acute, lunulate with lateral extensions more or less reflexed, 6-8 (-13) x 8-14 (-20) mm; spur straight, slender, acute, parallel to the ovary, 2-3 (-7) mm long; lateral sepals patent, oblong, obtuse to truncate, c. 7-8 mm long. Petals narrowly lanceolate to lorate from a broad base formed by a basal anticous lobe flanking the stigma, with papillae inside. Lip more or less patªent, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, rounded, 5-10 mm long. Anther pendent at 45°; stigma horizontal, on a 1 mm long pedicel, concave; latªeral rostellum lobes square, concave, central lobe smaller, viscidia facing backwards.

Inflorescence a lax to dense raceme; flowers 1-6, resupinate, white to mauve, petals somewhat darker. Sepals 6-10 mm long; median sepal shallowly galeate with reflexed lateral extensions; spur horizontal, slender, 2-3 mm long; lateral sepals oblong, shorter than median. Petals strap-shaped, curved over anther. Flowering time Sept.-Nov.
