Characteristics

Plants robust, 150-300 mm tall; sterile shoots apparently hysteranthous; fertile shoots: leaves 6-12, basal 2-3 reduced to red or hyaline, 10-40 mm long basal sheaths, remainder imbricate, lanceoªlate, up to 150 x 20 mm, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences dense, cylindrical, 30-80-flowered; bracts taller than the flowers. Flowers facing down, greenish, white or yellow; fragrant. Median sepal oblong-obovate, rounded, galea 7-7.5 x 2.8-3 x 1-1.5 mm deep, upper margin incurªved; spur pendent, slender or somewhat clavate, 3-3.5 mm long; lateral sepals shallowly navicular, spreading, apices curved forwards, 6.5-7.5 x 3 mm. Petals obliquely obovate, 5.7 x 2.6 mm, inªner margin curved behind the anther. Lip pendent, flat, narrowly oblanceolate, rounded 7 x c. 1.6 mm, apex somewhat upcurved. Anther erect, c.3.5 mm long; stigma flat, vertical; rostellum c. 0.8 mm tall.
