Characteristics

Plants c. 600 mm tall; stem often with fibrous remains of old leaves basally; radical leaves c. 10, sulcate, 300-400 x 2 mm, cauline leaves c. 9, lax or subimbricate, completely sheathing, dry, acute, 30-50 mm long. Inflorescences lax, 3-12 flowered; bracts c. 2h as long as ovaries, dry. Flowers cream with mauve veins. Median sepal erect, galeate, obtuse, 22-25 mm tall x c. 16 mm wide x 8 mm deep, margins curved outwards; spur horiªzontal basally, at length gradually decurved, slenªder cylindrical, subacute, 30-50 mm long; lateral sepals patent, lanceolate to narrowly oblong, suboblique, acute, 20-25 mm long, apiculus 0.5-1 mm long. Petals decurrent with lorate petal limb 14 mm long, basal part horizontal, soon genicu-lately curved through 135° to face forwards, apex lanceolate, acute, with orbicular basal anticous lobe c. 3 mm in diameter. Lip patent, flat, narªrowly oblong to lorate, acute, 15-20 mm long. Anther somewhat pendent; stigma with median lobe smaller; rostellum equally 3-lobed.
