Characteristics

Plants robust, 120-500 mm tall; leaves linear acuminate, imbricate, erect, up to 180 mm long, grading into the floral bracts. Inflorescences dense, numerous-flowered; bracts dry and brown, c. 15 mm long, apices deflexed. Flowers facing down, white, galea with short red lines inside, lateral sepals purplish below, petals and lip with red margin and spur purple-green. Median sepal gale-ate, 8-10 x c. 4 mm deep, apiculate to acute, with 2 c. 1 mm deep sacs basally; spur pendent, slender, 3-4 mm long, arising between the sacs; lateral sepals narrowly oblong, acute, 8-10 mm long, shallowly navicular. Petals parallel to the anther, apical '/3 geniculately upcurved behind the anther, fleshy, acute, basal anticous lobe semi-circular, c. 1.5 mm in diameter, flanking the stigma. Lip more or less lorate, acute, c. 6 mm long, apex deflexed. Anther horizontal; stigma horizontal with front margin raised; lateral rostellum lobes oblong, c. 1 mm tall, enclosing the viscidia, central lobe small, fleshy.
