Characteristics

Plants robust, 200-600 mm tall; leaves imbricate, narrowly ovate, acute, up to 100 mm long, gradªing into 1 or 2 obtuse hyaline basal sheaths and into the floral bracts. Inflorescences dense, nu-merous-flowered; bracts as tall as or overtopping the flowers. Flowers cream-yellow with green veins, lip dark yellow with purple spots. Median sepal with a deep, obtuse galea 7-9 mm tall x c. 5 mm deep; spur cylindrical to subclavate, 4-6 mm long; lateral sepals patent, oblong-elliptic, rounded, 6-8 mm long with well-developed apiculi. Petals lorate, c. 6 mm long, basal half erect next to and fused to the rostellum, apical half curved forwards over the stigma, basal antiªcous lobe square, curved around and over the stigma, c. 1.5 mm tall. Lip patent, narrowly obªlong, rounded, 4-6 mm long. Anther horizontal; stigma horizontal, equally tripulvinate; lateral rostellum lobes fused to petals, enclosing the visªcidia, central lobe minute.
