Sprawling annual to 15 cm, branched near base. Leaves narrow, spreading, entire or scarcely toothed, 5-15 x 1.0-2.5 mm, bracts broad and ciliate below. Flowers in numerous, rounded, capitate spikes elongating somewhat in fruit, tiny, white, 2.5-4.0 mm long, calyx lobes narrow and ciliate.
